Primary & Intermediate Competitions
Basketball Hutt Valley offer School Competitions for all of Hutt Valley. Schools can enter teams in these competitions, if you are interested you should
approach your school.
All games are played at Walter Nash Stadium in Taita. Games start at 3.45pm.
How many teams can we take?
Monday Tiniball Yr 3/4 capped at 36 teams (3 grades A, B & C)
Wednesday Intermediate Yr 7/8 capped at 48 teams (Boys, Girls, Mixed – A & B
grades)
Thursday Miniball Yr 5/6 capped at 48 teams (4 grades A, B, C & D)
Friday Tiniball Yr 1/2 capped at 24 teams (4 grades A, B, C & D)
Due to the increased popularity of basketball in our region, schools will only be able
to register a maximum amount of teams per year group to allow more to participate
as follows:
Yr1/2, Yr3/4, Yr5/6 – maximum of 2 teams per school per age group
Yr7/8 – maximum of 3 teams per school
These are the maximum amount of teams that can enter, so once it reaches capacity
our system will not allow you to register. There may be more than 1 pool per grade.
N.B. There will be 1 grade for Yr 7/8 played on a Thursday (instead of a Wednesday)
to cater for more Intermediate teams.
TERM 2 DATES (2024)
Year 3/4 play on Mondays starting – 29 April thru to 24 June
Year 7/8 play on Wednesdays starting – 1 May thru to 26 June
Year 5/6 play Thursdays starting – 2 May thru to 20 June
Year 1/2 play on a Fridays starting – 3 May thru to 21 June
On the following dates there will be no games due to public holidays/ venue
unavailability:
20 – 24 May Hutt Sports Awards
3 June King’s Birthday
27 – 30 June Matariki Basketball Tournament
