Basketball Hutt Valley Association (BBHV) has been at the heart of the region’s basketball community since 1947. As a non-profit organisation, we are volunteers committed to growing the game, supporting player development, and delivering high-quality competitions for all levels.

A Rich Basketball History

Hutt Valley has a proud basketball legacy, highlighted by the Hutt Valley Lakers, who won National Basketball League (NBL) titles in 1991 and 1993. Today, BBHV continues to build on this success by fostering talent and creating pathways for players to excel.

Growing the Game & Our Community

We run year-round leagues for primary, intermediate, and adult players, ensuring basketball is accessible at all levels. In 2025, we are focusing on developing referees and officials, with courses and mentoring programmes that also count towards school service hours or the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Representative Teams

Our Representative Programme provides talented players with opportunities to compete at regional and national levels. With expert coaching and strong development pathways, many of our players have advanced to national leagues, US college basketball, and professional careers.
